Smallsword Olympic

Smallsword Olympic is very light thrust weapon that evolved from the Renaissance rapier. It was most popular at the end of the XVII and the beginning of XVIII. It appeared in France, and spread widely in all Europe. Later this weapon evolved into a French dueling sword, from which later grew Olympic epee.

It was used both by the military as an auxiliary weapon, until the First World War, and in everyday life as
an element of a dress, and for duels.

Smallsword Olympic is a very light weapon with a short triangular blade, unable for cuts and a round or oval guard and rings under the guard.

The length of the blade varies, on average, from 60 to 80 cm, although there are swords with a blade length of 90 cm. Early ones are based on a diamond-shaped or flat blade, over time they are replaced by triangular blades.

This model is based on Olympic epee blade – more light, flexible and cheap. It is perfect choice for new fencers and club stuff!
